Transform Holiday Photos into Wall Art + Giveaway (AD)

Making use of my digital photographs is something I’m really keen on. I create a photo album every year and we do have some of my travel and kids photographs framed and on the wall at home. No canvas prints on our walls though, so when I was contacted by CanvasChamp recently and asked to review their canvas print online service I said yes.

Read on to find out more and the opportunity to win your own canvas.

Choosing an image

I have a lot of digital images that were taken in the mid-noughties when digital cameras were still creating fairly low-resolution images - particularly so in relation to today. So I thought I’d really test the service with an old picture. It’s also our wedding anniversary coming up so a photograph from our final destination on our honeymoon in Rio was the one I chose.

The image is Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Ipanema is a fashionable seaside neighbourhood located in the southern region of the city where we were staying there for a few days before returning to the UK. We had been to the Veloso bar-café where the “Girl from Ipanema” Brazilian bossa nova jazz song had been inspired, then walked along the beach itself picking up a caipirinha as we ambled along. It was sunny but a storm was brewing.

We were taking snaps on our small compact digital camera – a Nikon Coolpix 2500 – as we’d been advised not to take large cameras out and about with us – and this one one of the snaps we took. We can’t remember which of us took it but it’s one of our favourites.

Uploading

It’s simple to upload. Select your image on your PC and it does all the hard work for you. There wasn’t any information about minimum image size although the maximum is 25MB and no warnings about it being too small appeared - my image was 898kb - so I was very intrigued to see how the system would cope with an old image.

Selections

There are a number of different options from which you can select your canvas print including Style – from a simple canvas print to multi hexagons; Shape – square, rectangle, panoramic; Size – from 8 x 8 to customs sizes, wrap and border; as well as hooks and hardware. All this though takes just minutes.

Checkout

This was an easy process. I had been given a code to enter to receive my complimentary canvas, however, payment can be made by credit card or Pay Pal and it’s always worth checking the offers and discount codes as there seem to be plenty.

Delivery

Standard delivery is 8-10 business days, however, I ordered on 22 May, it was shipped on 25 May and delivered on a Sunday two days later, just five days after ordering. The delivery tracker was also easy to follow.

The Canvas

I am so happy I picked this image. It’s one I’ve loved for such a long time and now it has pride of place in my newly decorated kitchen/diner/family room. And I’ve no doubt that a more recent higher resolution photograph would produce even better results. To me it’s perfect and I’m going to order a few more of special places around the world that I’ve been that fit by colour theme!
