7 Things To Do In June

Well, I think we've had a pretty good Spring so far. Much more sunshine than we get during a whole summer some years. Long may it continue this month now that we have arrived in June. This month we have Wimbledon and the FIFA World Cup to look forward to as well as long sunny days.

June is the sixth month of the year and contains the summer solstice and longest day and by the end, we'll be half-way through 2018 - how did that happen? Anyway to celebrate what we hope will be a fab month here are seven things to do, eat, make and also enjoy in June.

7 Things To Do In June

Where to eat out ...

On the blog, you'll find 16 fab places to eat out as a veggie in North East England. National Vegetarian Week may have happened in May but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy eating out veggie style every week. I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years now and eating out as a vegetarian is so much easier now than it ever has been. Even opting for vegan food is getting slightly easier. And it's not just the big metropolitan cities that are offering such a range of choices.

Newcastle and the whole of North East England have such a great range of places that it's now sometimes too difficult to choose. It's a far cry from when you were lucky if there was a vegetable lasagne on the menu, and once on our travels, we were even asked to leave a restaurant in Paris after we asked if they could offer vegetarian dishes. I'm so glad thing have improved!

What to play ...

The Rubik’s Cube, the familiar multi-coloured 3D brainteaser that has challenged puzzle enthusiasts for more than 40 years is still the world’s bestselling toy of all time, and with it, Rubik’s won the retro toy of the Year category at the annual Toy Industry Awards.

Now John Adams is building the Rubik's brand with new titles Flip and Battle. Rubik’s Flip is a tile-based strategy game while Rubik’s Battle is a quick-thinking card game based on the Rubik’s cube colours. We were sent a copy of Rubik's Battle and Rubik's Flip to review find out more and how to play here.

Where to walk ...

Our 8 favourite North East coastal family walks were worth braving the cold for even in winter and early spring, and now as we approach summer there may not be a more perfect time to take in a walk along the coastline of Durham, South & North Tyneside and Northumberland.
