Head down this summer to intu Metrocentre's free ‘play zone’ featuring toy brand PLAYMOBIL as part of a summer of activity planned for families during the school holidays. There will be a range of PLAYMOBIL toys as well as some larger than life figures to keep children entertained in the dedicated space that will be open in the lower Qube at intu Metrocentre every day until Sunday 6 August. Meet members of the PLAYMOBIL Ghostbusters team when they patrol the centre on Tuesday 1 August.

Wednesday 2 August - Volcanoes!
Make your own model volcano out of clay and discover how to make it erupt.

Thursday 3 August - Creatures that live underground (including creepy crawly animal handling)
Come and meet the staff from bugsnstuff for the opportunity to get up-close and personal with some amazing animals of the insect, reptile and amphibian worlds.

Amazing Games Tuesday 15 & Thursday 17 August
Kids love playing with toys and this week, we are making simple Victorian-inspired cup and ball games.

Transforming Transport Tuesday 22 & Thursday 24 August
Discovery Museum’s collections include examples of transport, from ships and steam engines to cars and buses. This week, we're making Transforming Robot cards based on different types of transport.

Emojis Engineering Tuesday 29 & Thursday 31 August
Year on year, technology is advancing at a greater pace. Improvements in mobile communication and robotics are just two examples of how our world is changing. This week, we are designing our own emojis and using them to create badges and key ring accessories.

The Playmobil Play Zone

Join us in Exhibition Park where you can learn about the different wildlife we find in the park and have a chance to identify wildlife and try out some of the equipment yourself. Activities include birdwatching and Minibeast hunts. Groups of participants will be walked to Exhibition Park from the museum where ERIC staff and volunteers will be around to help participants to identify and record the flora and fauna they find in the park. At this family event, there will be activities such as mini beast hunting; bird watching; scavenger hunts and more!
